COMMUNITY PLANNING PARTNERSHIP:
Town of Warren

Warren is a mostly rural town in the upper Mad River Valley. The valley floor is dotted with farms and homes, and the Village of Warren sits on the banks of the scenic Mad River. The surrounding mountains are largely in public ownership as part of the Green Mountain National Forest and are home to the Sugarbush Resort, one of Vermont's premier ski areas. The combination of scenic beauty and great skiing has turned the town into a highly desirable place to live, and median home prices are among the highest in the region.
WHAT'S NEW...
The first public meeting to discuss commercial and housing options for Warren will be held on Monday, November 10 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the elementary school. Check back for agenda and details.
The Town is conducting a survey of Warren residents about the future of Warren village. What kinds of new businesses do you want? What types of housing do you feel are compatible with the village's character? Visit the survey site and let us know what you think!
Over the last few years, Warren has made a strong commitment to ensuring that moderately priced homes are available for the town's residents. At the same time, the town recognizes the need to balance development of moderately priced housing with all the town's other priorities, including conservation of farmland and protection of the village's historic character. To this end, Warren has contracted with Smart Growth Vermont to assist the town in identifying and developing strategies that will promote affordable housing in ways that are consistent with all the other goals as outlined in the town plan.
Smart Growth Vermont brings to the project a broad perspective and the ability to integrate multiple community goals into a smart growth framework. With the help of the community as a whole, Smart Growth Vermont will help Warren provide housing for all while protecting what makes Warren such a great place to live.
