COMMUNITY PLANNING PARTNERSHIP
Town of Bristol
Bristol is a vibrant small town in eastern Addison County. Nestled at the foot of the Green Mountains, the town serves as a hub for a five-town region. Bristol Village is at the heart of the town, with shops, services, and neighborhoods all within walking distance.
Smart Growth Vermont has been working with the Town of Bristol since 2007 on a major overhaul of its town plan. We assisted the Planning Commission with a community-wide survey, provided an in-depth review of the draft plan to assess its consistency with smart growth principles, and prepared an implementation strategy for the Town.
Now Bristol has contracted with Smart Growth Vermont to revise its zoning bylaw to bring it into conformity with the new town plan. Over the course of 2009 and early 2010, Smart Growth Vermont will be working closely with the Planning Commission to assess what strategies community residents feel are most appropriate and draft new zoning language to implement those strategies.
